Job Summary

The Discovery Center at Waters Edge Board of Directors seeks a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead the organization's operations and achieve its mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Board of Directors Support: Provide strategic guidance and advice to the Board on matters within the Executive Director's scope of responsibilities.
  • Leadership & Management: Develop and implement an annual work plan and 5-year strategic plan to achieve the organization's goals.
  • Financial Management: Oversee and manage all contracts, create a realistic budget plan, and provide monthly budget performance summaries and forecasts.
  • Staffing & Development: Develop and implement a current and long-range staffing plan to ensure the organization is effectively structured and competently staffed.
  • Fundraising & Development: Develop and implement a strategic fundraising strategy to target appropriate foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government programs.
  • Communications: Serve as the primary public face of the organization, establish strong partnerships in the community, and enhance the organization's public image.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree in STEM education preferred.
  • Experience: Experience in a museum, nonprofit organization, STEM education organization, or business, preferably at a senior managerial level.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, vision, and strategic direction, ability to develop and implement strategic plans, and experience in marketing, public relations, and fundraising.
