Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team at Intermountain Healthcare. As a Patient Service Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greets patients, answers phones, takes messages, and provides necessary information while documenting all interactions accurately and completely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Schedules patient appointments for visits, procedures, diagnostic tests, referrals, and consultations.
  • Registers patients, confirms, enters, and/or updates all required demographic data on patient and guarantor on registration system.
  • Obtains copies of insurance cards, forms of ID, and signatures on all required forms, verifies information on appropriate accounts, and determines insurance coordination of benefits and pre-certification/prior-authorization.
  • Informs self-pay patients of liability due and prepayment requirements, prepares estimates of procedures, calculates advance payment requirements, and refers potentially eligible patients to financial counseling and/or contract eligibility vendors.
  • Collects patient payments, provides accurate receipts, posts payments in system, reconciles receipts with cash collected, and completes required balancing forms.
  • Maintains department and/or individual work queues and reports as required.
  • Prepares medical records for patient appointments by compiling information from various sources, including authorizations and non-Epic documentation, and accurately scans medical records as required.
Requirements
  • One year of customer service experience involving interactions with customers in person and by phone.
  • Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills and data entry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
Physical Requirements
  • Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.
  • Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
  • See and read computer monitors and documents.
  • Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
  • May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling, and reaching.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$18.29 - $22.54
