Position Overview:
Meridia Recruitment Solutions is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer specializing in Roadway Lighting and Traffic Signals. This role is integral to our client, a prominent engineering consulting firm known for its commitment to quality and integrity.


Key Responsibilities:
As an Intermediate Electrical Engineer, you will:

  • Design and engineer electrical systems for both small and large-scale multidisciplinary projects, catering to public and private sector clients.
  • Provide services including the design of lighting systems, traffic signals, and joint utility trench layouts.
  • Create schematic and detailed design drawings.
  • Offer technical and administrative support throughout all project phases, from proposal to construction.
  • Conduct periodic field visits to evaluate existing conditions, identify conflicts, and support construction efforts.
  • Perform lighting analysis utilizing AGi32 software.
  • Prepare contract documents, including specifications and cost estimates.
  • Compile post-construction record drawings.
  • Review shop drawings and provide field support, including commissioning and site inspections.
  • Mentor junior staff members.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering with a focus on roadway lighting and traffic signal design.
  • A minimum of 5 years of design experience, preferably within the consulting sector.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards (e.g., TAC, ESA, IMSA, AODA, RP-8, Ontario Traffic Manuals, OPSS, Highway Traffic Act, PHM-125 Legal Plans).
  • Experience coordinating utility contacts and assessing conflicts.
  • Proficiency in AGi32 and AutoCAD.
  • The ability to calculate tender item quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Experience in developing pavement marking and roadway signage plans.
  • A solid understanding of Ministry of Transportation of Ontario and municipal projects.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation, Auto Turn, and SPIDAcalc is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid Ontario Driver's Licence – Class G and access to a personal vehicle for business purposes.
