Job Overview

As a key contributor, you will define, implement, and enhance effective production techniques for the fabrication of intricate landing gear components.


Your responsibilities will include documenting manufacturing and sub-assembly strategies, creating 3D stage models for each operation, and generating detailed stage drawings along with associated documentation, ensuring compliance with both internal and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

- Drive improvements in manufacturing processes to achieve cost reduction and enhance quality.
- Lead problem-solving initiatives and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts utilizing methodologies such as Ishikawa and 5 Whys.
- Collaborate with the Design team to assess product manufacturability and assembly, providing recommendations for Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
- Offer daily manufacturing support for all components produced in the machine shop.
- Oversee Industrialization Projects for new product introductions, guiding them from pilot batches to full production ramp-up.
- Provide comprehensive rework instructions for parts that do not meet production quality standards.
- Update shop work orders as necessary to accommodate additional rework operations, alternative work centers, and scheduling needs for special processes.
- Establish appropriate tooling design guidelines and select or design/purchase suitable fixtures and tooling.
- Research and integrate new products and technologies into the manufacturing environment to enhance methods and processes.
- Act as a liaison among Engineering, Estimating, Finance, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
- Conduct PFMEA on new products and critical manufacturing processes.
- Monitor and implement engineering changes promptly in production.
- Resolve complex manufacturing challenges and execute robust solutions to meet quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Manage production data within the Manufacturing Engineering Data System (MEDS) and ERP system (SAP).
Qualifications

Technical Skills:
- A minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- A degree or diploma in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in creating 2D and 3D CAD data (CATIA V5 preferred).
- Familiarity with Manufacturing Engineering Data Systems (MEDS) and ERP systems (SAP) is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, machining and grinding concepts for complex parts, properties of aerospace-grade materials (various alloys), and material processes (heat treatment, stress relief, etc.).
- Knowledge of tool and fixture design, process estimating, and planning.
- Proficient in GD & T, ASME / ANSI Y14.5 standards.
- Awareness of Aerospace and Customer standards and specifications (AS, PS, BAC, MIL, AMS, NAS, etc.).
- Practical knowledge of quality standards such as AS9100.
- Basic understanding of Non-Destructive Testing processes (MPI, LPI, FPI, Nital Etch, Ultrasonic), Shot Peening, and HVOF coating.
- Conceptual grasp of assemblies and sub-assemblies of manufactured components along with related CAD models and drawings.
- A strong focus on process improvement, data analytics, and project management skills.
