Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Hospice Manager and the Medical Director, this role is dedicated to delivering social work services to patients in hospice care and their families across various environments, including inpatient, outpatient, educational, and home care settings. The Hospice Social Worker plays a crucial role in assisting individuals and families in navigating the complexities associated with terminal illnesses, addressing medical, emotional, social, and financial challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate support to patients and families, helping them to identify and implement effective coping strategies.
  • Facilitate access to necessary resources and services that enhance quality of life during challenging times.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for patients.

Essential Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Social Work.
  • Alaska Masters Social Worker License or Alaska Clinical Social Worker License upon hire.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in medical or bereavement social work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of supervised, post-master's experience in a psychiatric or healthcare environment.
