Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY

This role focuses on aiding individuals in securing and sustaining employment. The coordinator works to eliminate obstacles to employment and enhance job readiness capabilities. This individual will guide clients through the U.S. workforce landscape via personalized coaching and job readiness workshops. Additionally, the coordinator will establish connections with employers and community organizations to effectively support the client demographic.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Refugee Assistance & Immigration Services (RAIS) program serves as a vital link for refugees and newcomers, helping them transition from their past experiences to the skills necessary for success in the United States. By emphasizing economic independence, community integration, and respect for diverse cultures, RAIS cultivates an environment of support and encouragement for refugees to thrive.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Experience working with individuals from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Expertise in adult education methodologies.
  • Familiarity with teaching English Language Learners (ELL).

  • Proficient in standard office software such as Word and Excel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct employment assessments and assist clients in establishing career objectives.
  • Support clients in executing their employment strategies, including connecting them with resources for skill development and transportation.
  • Educate clients on effective job search techniques and assist with application processes.
  • Prepare clients for interviews through guidance and practice sessions.
  • Monitor the progress of employed clients and facilitate employer-client relations.
  • Engage with new employers and maintain existing partnerships.
  • Develop and deliver educational content aimed at enhancing job skills and familiarizing clients with the U.S. work environment.
  • Teach various classes, including computer skills, job readiness, mock interviews, and application processes.
  • Document all client interactions and related activities accurately and promptly.
  • Stay updated on program communications, policy changes, and community resources.
  • Assist in crisis situations, coordinating necessary emergency services as appropriate.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience: At least one year of experience in a case management role working with refugees or similar populations. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Demands: Work is conducted in a standard office setting, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds and extended periods of sitting or standing.

Travel Requirements: Frequent travel within the local area is necessary.
