POSITION SUMMARY

This role focuses on delivering direct peer assistance to families facing housing instability or those who have recently secured housing. Utilizing the Strengthening Families™ 5 Protective Factor Framework, the Peer Assistance Facilitator motivates and supports participants through a strength-based, trauma-informed methodology aimed at enhancing social and emotional well-being. This position leverages personal experiences to provide valuable support while also offering billable services.

PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Supportive Family Services (SFS) team provides a comprehensive range of services tailored to support all family members experiencing homelessness. This team includes case managers, youth enrichment staff, and peer support specialists who deliver holistic services aimed at assisting families in overcoming challenges. Key interventions include housing assistance, income enhancement, and fostering resilience through caregiver groups, family activities, and youth programs. Building community connections and enhancing knowledge and skills are essential outcomes of our services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate Strengthening Families™ Parent and Community Cafes.
  • Plan and execute engaging family activities aligned with the Strengthening Families™ model.
  • Build effective relationships with families.
  • Support the development of independent living skills as part of participants' care plans.
  • Guide participants in navigating community resources.
  • Collaborate with case management and clinical teams to help families achieve their goals.
  • Monitor and document progress according to individualized treatment plans.
  • Serve as a role model, sharing life experiences to inspire hope.
  • Encourage social and recreational skill development within the community.
  • Assist in crisis intervention as needed.
  • Adapt to evolving environments and participant needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Minimum Experience: One year in human services or related fields. Lived experience in recovery from addiction or mental health challenges, with at least two years of sobriety, may substitute for required experience.

Certification as a Peer Support Associate is required within six months of onboarding.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily conducted in an office setting, with frequent visits to community service locations. Physical demands include occasional lifting and the ability to participate in recreational activities with clients.

Travel within the local area may be required.
