Job Overview

The Catering Staff position at Roanoke College plays a vital role in supporting the catering operations by providing exceptional service during catered events. This role involves ensuring that food and beverages are presented safely and attractively. Responsibilities include a variety of tasks related to event execution, such as setup, service, and cleanup.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a representative of Roanoke College, demonstrating courtesy and respect in all interactions.
  • Maintain accurate records and report to catering management and Dining Services.
  • Collaborate closely with supervisors to fulfill all event requirements.
  • Implement and uphold safety and sanitation protocols as directed by relevant authorities.
  • Enforce policies established by the Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority.
  • Assist with the advance setup and special arrangements for catered events.
  • Share responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and order in catering workspaces and vehicles.
  • Manage alcohol service, including the handling and inventory of beverages.
  • Operate delivery vehicles as needed.
  • Ensure timely delivery and cleanup of catered events.
  • Care for and return all equipment after events.
  • Work a flexible schedule aligned with event timings.
  • Document final details on event forms upon completion.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures established by Dining Services management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the food service sector.
  • Legally permitted to handle and transport alcoholic beverages.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ability to work independently.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's license required.
  • ServSafe Certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months).
  • TIPS Certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months).
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Preferred: Minimum of 1 year of catering experience.
