Position Overview

We are looking for several On-Call Catering Staff members who are available to work flexible hours to support our vibrant on-campus catering operations for various events. This role involves a range of responsibilities related to the preparation, serving of food, clearing tables, and post-event cleanup. Evening and weekend availability is essential, with schedules varying based on event requirements.

Primary Duties:

  • Act as a representative of Roanoke College, demonstrating courtesy, respect, and professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, and the public.
  • Implement and uphold safety and sanitation protocols as directed by the relevant health authorities and Dining Services management.
  • Oversee all advance preparations and specific arrangements for catered events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and storage areas for catering supplies.
  • Collaborate closely with supervisors to ensure all event requirements are fulfilled.
  • Ensure timely delivery and setup for all catered functions.
  • Care for and return all catering equipment after each event.
  • Adapt to a flexible work schedule aligned with event timings.
  • Document final details on the event form upon completion of each event.
  • Adhere to and enforce policies and procedures established by Dining Services management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma is required.
  • Experience in the food service sector is preferred.
  • Strong ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Our staff members are expected to exhibit courtesy, respect, and professionalism in all interactions. While prior experience is not mandatory, some background in catering or food service is advantageous. This is a 12-month on-call position, primarily active during the academic year. Uniforms and a non-slip shoe allowance will be provided. As an employee of the college, you will have access to campus facilities such as the fitness center and library, enjoy discounts at the campus store, and receive complimentary admissions to various programs and events.
