The Catering Staff position at Roanoke College plays a vital role in supporting the catering operations by providing exceptional service during catered events. This role involves ensuring that food and beverages are presented safely and attractively. Responsibilities include various tasks related to event management, such as setup, service, and cleanup.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Act as a representative of Roanoke College, demonstrating courtesy and respect in all interactions with students, staff, and the public.
- Maintain accurate records and report to catering management and Dining Services.
- Collaborate closely with supervisors to fulfill all event requirements.
- Implement and uphold safety and sanitation protocols as directed by relevant authorities.
- Enforce policies established by the local Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority.
- Assist in the advance setup and special arrangements for catered events.
- Share responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and organization in catering workspaces and storage areas.
- Manage alcohol service, including the opening, dispensing, transporting, and inventorying of beverages.
- Operate delivery vehicles as needed.
- Ensure timely delivery and cleanup of catered events.
- Care for and return all equipment after each event.
- Work a flexible schedule aligned with event timings.
- Document final details on event forms post-event.
- Adhere to policies and procedures set by Dining Services management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the food service sector.
- Legally permitted to handle and transport alcoholic beverages.
- Strong sense of responsibility and ability to work independently while adhering to time-sensitive tasks.
- Valid U.S. Driver's license is necessary.
- ServSafe Certification is required (or must be obtained within 6 months of employment).
- TIPS Certification is required (or must be obtained within 6 months of employment).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Preferred: at least 1 year of catering experience.
