Key Duties of the Role

Deliver high-quality educational experiences, fostering an atmosphere that prioritizes teaching and learning while promoting open dialogue on various topics. The primary responsibilities of adjunct faculty encompass curriculum development and instructional delivery, with assignments distributed between lecture and laboratory courses as per departmental requirements. Instructors are expected to be accessible to students beyond scheduled class times.

The initial compensation for adjunct faculty, as per salary table 11, is $88.72 per hour for lectures and $70.98 per hour for lab sessions. For those holding a doctorate, the compensation is $93.00 per hour for lectures and $74.40 per hour for lab sessions.

Qualifications and Experience

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications established for the discipline, as sanctioned by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors, as outlined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.

Master's degree in political science, government, or international relations OR
Bachelor's degree in any of the aforementioned fields AND a Master's degree in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, any ethnic studies, Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.

For candidates whose degree titles do not exactly match those specified in the minimum qualifications, an equivalency review must be requested, accompanied by supporting documentation, such as transcripts and publications.
OR
Possession of a lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential in Government (Theory and Practice, Local and International) AND a demonstrated understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.

  6. If claiming equivalency, a separate statement titled "Equivalency" must be attached in the online application, providing the basis for this claim along with supporting evidence.
  7. Foreign Transcripts: Transcripts from institutions outside the United States require a course-by-course analysis with an equivalency statement from a certified evaluation service. This report must be attached to the online application.
