The primary responsibilities of part-time faculty encompass curriculum development and instructional delivery, with assignments allocated between lecture and laboratory courses as per departmental requirements.

Part-time instructional staff are expected to be accessible to students beyond scheduled class times.

Compensation Structure for Part-Time Instructors

The initial part-time compensation rate as per salary table 11 is $102.90 per hour for lectures and $82.33 per hour for lab sessions. For candidates holding a doctorate, the compensation is $107.87 per hour for lectures and $86.30 per hour for lab sessions.

Specific Duties
Instruct the course on Ecological Restoration (EH112 & EH113).

This course encompasses the fundamentals of ecological restoration, including design, planning, habitat reference characterization, collaboration with various stakeholders, and the principles of monitoring, philosophy, ethics, and historical context.

Emphasis is placed on practical techniques for native plant propagation alongside ecological restoration knowledge. These courses are offered each spring, alternating between EH112 and EH113.

Qualifications and Experience

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for the discipline as established by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors, as outlined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.

A Master's degree in agriculture, agricultural science, education with a focus on agriculture, or a related field (including but not limited to: agricultural business, agricultural engineering, agricultural mechanics, agronomy, animal science, enology, environmental horticulture, equine science, forestry, natural resources, plant science, pomology, soil science, viticulture, or other agricultural sciences)

OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

Applicants must provide evidence of education and accomplishments that are equivalent to the aforementioned qualifications. (If claiming equivalency, please attach a separate statement detailing the basis for this claim and submit supporting documentation, such as transcripts, publications, or other relevant materials.)

Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff is essential.


If the title of your degree as reflected on your transcripts DOES NOT EXACTLY MATCH one of the degree titles listed in the minimum qualifications above, you must request an equivalency review and submit supporting documents at the time of application.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Prior teaching experience and a background in ecological restoration are preferred, although professional experience in related fields will also satisfy minimum requirements.
