Position Overview

Title: Assistant Adjunct Professor, Associate Adjunct Professor, and Adjunct Professor

Salary Range: The compensation structure is defined by the UCSC Salary Scales, which establish the minimum remuneration based on rank and step at the time of appointment. 'Off-scale salaries' may be provided to remain competitive. A typical estimate for a full-time role ranges from $115,000 to $250,300.

Percent Time: Variable (0-100%); the time commitment will vary based on the level of involvement in research, teaching, and service activities.

Position Description: The Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, is seeking applications for a continuous pool of assistant adjunct professors, associate adjunct professors, and adjunct professors. Faculty members in this role are expected to participate in research or creative endeavors, teaching, and service to the university and the public. Appointments may be extended to academic scholars affiliated with other institutions or to distinguished professional practitioners whose expertise supports the department's academic and professional goals. These roles aim to strengthen connections between the university and other academic or industry entities, often being self-funded and involving a limited duration of service.

Research Areas: We are particularly interested in candidates who can enhance the diversity of scholarly activity and contribute to the Baskin School of Engineering by complementing or augmenting our existing research strengths. Current areas of excellence include:

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in applied mathematics or a closely related discipline, along with a proven record of research and teaching.
