Job Summary:

The Payment Poster and Research Specialist is a critical role within BAHAMA Consulting, responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely posting of electronic and manual insurance payments and patient payments. This position requires strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with internal departments, external business partners, and Accounting to deliver high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payment Posting and Reconciliation: Work closely with Accounting to ensure accurate and timely posting of all payments and cash for the hospitals.
  • Daily Posting Logs: Organize and submit daily posting logs to Accounting for reconciliation of daily postings.
  • Suspense Accounts: Identify and transfer funds to appropriate patient accounts weekly.
  • Payment Posting Research: Conduct research to identify posting errors, transfer funds correctly, and document on reconciliation logs for reporting to Accounting.
  • Payor Communication: Contact payors for additional documentation to identify patient accounts.
  • Email Requests: Review and respond to email requests from staff, management, and other departments for payment posting research within set timeliness guidelines.
  • Vendor Reports: Pull payment reports from vendor websites as needed for assistance in posting research and patient account identification.
  • Training and Development: Participate in training opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills to support patients.
  • System Knowledge: Demonstrate knowledge of and effectively use patient account systems (Affinity, Chartmaxx, MedAssets, and Emdeon).

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of billing and/or collection experience.
