Position Overview:
As an Automotive Claims Specialist, you will play a vital role in the assessment and management of vehicle damage claims. This position involves field inspections and appraisals, ensuring that all claims are handled with precision and care.

Key Qualifications:
- A minimum of three to five years of experience in collision estimating is preferred.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities are essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required for effective communication.
- This role may involve moderate travel.
- Conduct thorough reinspections of vehicles during the repair process.
- Re-negotiate repair costs as necessary.
- Handle disputed material damage claims to achieve satisfactory resolutions.

Responsibilities:
- This is a field-based role, requiring daily visits to repair shops.
- Utilize computer systems to maintain a high level of Member Service Index (MSI).
- Begin as an APD field reinspector, appraising damage to automobiles and other vehicles.

- Exercise independent judgment in estimating repair costs and determining damage awards.
- Make informed decisions regarding repair versus replacement of damaged vehicles.

- Negotiate with repair facilities to reach agreements on repair costs.
- Prepare clear and concise written reports detailing damage findings and repair agreements for submission to the adjusting staff for payment finalization.
- Communicate regularly with repair shops, members, and claimants.

Education and Requirements:
- A four-year college degree and five years of collision estimating experience are preferred.
- Ability to manage claims of varying complexities.
- Prior experience in the insurance industry is advantageous.
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with technical software are required.
- Strong organizational and planning skills are essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary.
- Physical requirements may include lifting up to 50 lbs or more.
- The role may require standing, kneeling, or crawling around vehicles in various weather conditions.
- A valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle driving record are mandatory.

Additional Information:
- High energy, self-motivated individuals who require minimal supervision are encouraged to apply.
- Flexibility to assist with Catastrophe duty within the organization is expected.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
