Position Overview

The Senior Vice President of Operations will oversee and manage the production division, including all aspects related to construction and warranty services. This role is crucial in ensuring the effective development, implementation, and adherence to company policies and procedures while fostering a collaborative and positive team culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate, implement, and educate team members on company strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop comprehensive building schedules for various areas within the division.
  • Monitor production scheduling and variance levels to ensure profitability.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with trade partners to secure competitive pricing while ensuring quality.
  • Track and assess the progress of all homes under construction.
  • Review and authorize variance purchase orders, continuously seeking improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Lead regular construction manager meetings to disseminate company policies and safety practices.
  • Facilitate monthly trade relations meetings, ensuring documentation and resolution of discussed issues.
  • Address and resolve issues involving customers, team members, and trades.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with building codes, company policies, and regulations.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance programs.
  • Adapt plans and schedules in response to unforeseen delays or site conditions.
  • Oversee the creation of community lot matrices.
  • Identify and address challenging lot conditions prior to construction.
  • Regularly inspect communities to ensure adherence to specifications, budgets, and cleanliness.
  • Generate monthly builder bonus reports, reviewing variance levels and completion dates.
  • Conduct biannual reviews of employee compensation, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Ensure clarity and accuracy in every start package.

Management Duties

  • Set and communicate clear job expectations.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of direct reports, addressing any issues.
  • Coach and develop team members.
  • Continuously assess the workload of Construction Managers.
  • Provide training for Construction Managers on scheduling and proprietary software.
  • Encourage teamwork and collaboration.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for production and warranty teams.
  • Manage the assignment of Construction Managers to various communities.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field.

Experience: A minimum of 10-15 years of relevant experience in residential construction and management.

Certifications:

  • 10 Hour OSHA Certified Hazard Recognition
  • GSWCC Certified-Level 1A
  • State Residential Contractors License

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive understanding of construction practices, procedures, and applicable building codes.
  • Proficient in residential scheduling and budgeting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings and produce accurate estimates.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA and State NPDES policies.
  • Familiarity with various construction tools and equipment.

Managerial Skills:

  • Effective time management.
  • Ability to set and communicate realistic job expectations.
  • Monitor and assess job performance of team members.
  • Encourage collaboration and teamwork.
