Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Treatment Operations Manager to join our team at the City of Franklin. As a key member of our water treatment operations team, you will be responsible for directing the operations and activities of our water treatment facility and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control the general operation of the facility through the use of Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) program and process control techniques.
  • Perform maintenance of equipment, including cleaning process equipment, collecting and documenting water quality parameters, and performing shutdown and start-up of plant equipment as required.
  • Conduct routine rounds to inspect and record plant operations, including chemical tank usage and general functionality of equipment.
  • Direct the completion of operational tasks assigned by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent through effective time management of staff and resources.
  • Assist in the planning, scheduling, and direction of the operations and maintenance of the facility.
  • Analyze facility performance, recommend, and implement process control techniques and other improvements to ensure maximum operational efficiency and optimized finished water quality.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus three to four years of water plant operation experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Tennessee Grade IV Water Treatment Plant Operator's Certification.
Working Conditions

The work environment is loud, with frequent exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The incumbent will be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell, and lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Job Content Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the City and water treatment practices as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of Water Treatment Operations Manager.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts, including discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Teamwork: Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, encourages others to express their ideas and opinions, provides input into identifying and solving problems, and anticipates the need of others for information about job tasks and work environment.
