Position Overview

Salary: $90,000-110,000 + Commission Structure

Iconergy is looking for a detail-oriented, proactive, and seasoned Business Development professional to enhance our engineering consulting team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with our sales team and engineering experts to identify and secure new project opportunities and clients.

Your role will focus on spearheading business development and sales initiatives for our consulting services, which encompass a variety of efficiency solutions, including: building commissioning, retro-commissioning, monitoring-based commissioning, energy modeling, sustainability consulting, building automation system design, energy metering design, turn-key solutions, water and energy conservation studies, ASHRAE Level I - III energy audits, energy and sustainability master planning, GHG accounting, EV charger studies, and renewable energy studies.

The target sectors include medium to large commercial entities, higher education institutions, K-12 schools, industrial facilities, hospitality venues, data centers, healthcare providers, and laboratories.

Utilizing your professional expertise, emotional intelligence, and analytical skills, you will cultivate new relationships that align with the company's culture and growth objectives. You will be responsible for drafting proposals and responses to solicitations, with support from our proposal writing team, and you will oversee the business opportunity until a signed contract is finalized.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with peers across the architecture, engineering, and construction sectors to generate relevant project opportunities.
  • Create compelling content for proposals, qualification packages, and other marketing materials that showcase our services, team, and experience.
  • Participate in or present at regional industry events to promote the Iconergy brand.
  • Ensure quality control on proposals and other documents, including proofreading and editing.
  • Coordinate with internal technical staff to plan for and secure the necessary support to fulfill business development opportunities.
  • Adapt your communication style to effectively engage with a diverse range of Iconergy staff, clients, and partners.
  • Represent Iconergy at regional trade events and, when appropriate, at national events.
  • Effectively interact with a broad spectrum of Iconergy staff, clients, and partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Sustainability, or Business; other degrees may be considered with relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in energy efficiency and/or architectural and/or engineering fields, with a focus on the efficiency solutions outlined in this posting.
  • Outgoing personality with the ability to initiate contact with potential clients and develop new customer relationships.
  • Strong familiarity with the commercial and industrial architecture, construction, and/or facility management sectors, particularly in the Rocky Mountain region.
  • Knowledgeable about utility efficiency and rebate programs, with a solid understanding of how to leverage these programs for new sales.
  • Technically proficient with a good grasp of electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, utility rates, and renewable energy.
  • Familiar with measurement and verification, energy/water efficiency, and renewable energy systems.
  • Experience in leading selection interviews, developing presentations, and writing proposals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with InDesign is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and oral) in English.
  • Experience with CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems.
