Your contributions will be impactful and rewarding, aiding businesses in transformation, growth, process enhancement, fundraising, preparing for acquisitions, and/or pursuing new opportunities.

Position Responsibilities:
This is an active role suited for an entrepreneurial-minded CFO who enjoys networking and sharing our mission, eager to collaborate with businesses across various sectors. You will have the chance to utilize your professional network to generate new business opportunities for the firm. As the primary liaison with clients, you will ensure exceptional client satisfaction while being accountable for the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of deliverables. In certain projects, you will lead a team of accounting professionals, while in others, you may provide strategic advice or guide prospects through the sales process.

Our clientele encompasses innovative startups, growth-stage companies, and private enterprises, including those backed by venture capital and private equity across a diverse array of sectors (Technology, SaaS, Professional Services, Construction, Manufacturing, eCommerce, Healthcare, Consumer Packaged Goods, FinTech, Real Estate, and more). We seek a CFO with a passion for business development and substantial experience in these industries, particularly with venture-backed firms and capital raising.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborating directly with CEOs and executive teams to formulate and implement financial strategies
  • Offering strategic business insights to clients
  • Communicating the Ascent CFO narrative and articulating our value propositions to potential clients and referral partners
  • Developing and maintaining financial models, rolling forecasts, and cash flow projections
  • Overseeing the budgeting process and analyzing variances between budgeted and actual figures
  • Assisting clients with fundraising efforts and/or mergers and acquisitions
  • Managing Ascent CFO and/or client resources to ensure the completion of month-end close and reporting packages
  • Onboarding clients, which may involve an assessment phase
  • Establishing and implementing effective accounting processes and internal controls
  • Identifying and monitoring key trends and metrics
  • Creating and maintaining executive dashboards and KPI reporting
  • Coordinating and managing the annual audit and tax return processes
  • Providing financial reports to Board of Directors members and shareholders
  • Utilizing outreach, networking, and cold calling to achieve business objectives
  • Maintaining a robust sales pipeline to exceed revenue targets
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • 15+ years of experience in finance and accounting roles, with prior experience in a full-time CFO capacity
  • CPA certification or MBA preferred
  • While formal Business Development or Sales experience is not mandatory, you should be someone who enjoys networking and sharing our narrative with both new and existing connections, and who appreciates the satisfaction of securing a new client who will receive excellent service
  • Proven experience as a strategic leader, comfortable acting as the trusted advisor to the CEO
  • Extensive experience in developing financial forecasts and cash flow models
  • Significant background in raising capital within the venture capital landscape
  • A passion for dynamic leadership within the finance and accounting domain
  • A strong professional network to generate new business leads
  • Proficient in accounting and ERP systems including QBOnline, NetSuite, Intacct, and other accounting software
  • Strong skills in MS Excel and Google Sheets
Compensation: $130-140/hour based on experience, plus a competitive commission structure.
