This position is based at our Anchorage office.

The Financial Accountant is expected to embody and uphold LifeMed Alaska's principles of safety, culture, and accountability. This role encompasses a range of accounting responsibilities, including but not limited to, the preparation of financial statements, account reconciliations, financial data analysis, and cash management.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  1. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  2. Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice handling and timely resolution of discrepancies.
  3. Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable and receivable, and other general ledger accounts.
  4. Analyze financial data and trends to pinpoint variances, anomalies, and areas for enhancement.
  5. Assist in the development of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
  6. Support tax preparation and compliance efforts, including the creation of tax returns and necessary documentation.
  7. Facilitate external audits by providing required documentation, explanations, and assistance.
  8. Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes for improved efficiency and accuracy.
  9. Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  10. Participate in special projects and initiatives as directed by management.

Qualifications:

(Any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience)

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years in an accounting position.

Skills and Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, including formula creation, workbook management, and pivot table functions. Experience in accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) tasks with data entry responsibilities. Proven experience in an accounting role with responsibilities for record maintenance, journal entry preparation, and reporting.

Other Qualifications: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policy and procedure manuals, as well as technical documents. Proficient in writing reports and business correspondence. Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to inquiries from groups of managers, customers, and colleagues. Skilled in defining problems, gathering data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions. Proficient in solving practical problems and managing various variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret diverse instructions and apply them appropriately.

Attendance: Regular attendance is mandatory for this role.

Language Proficiency: Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
