Position Overview:

Reports To: Senior Collections Recovery Specialist

Key Responsibilities: This role is essential for the recovery of charged-off financial debts owed to the credit union.

Core Duties:

  1. Engage with members concerning charged-off accounts and facilitate repayment arrangements.
  2. Address member inquiries related to outstanding financial obligations.
  3. Conduct necessary skip tracing as required.
  4. Authorize and negotiate settlements and payment plans for charged-off accounts in accordance with credit union policies.
  5. Evaluate and recommend to the Senior Collections Recovery Specialist potential adverse actions on accounts, which may include repossession of assets, credit limit closures, credit card blocks, legal proceedings, and alerts to other departments regarding losses and fraudulent accounts.
  6. Support the training and development of team members to ensure compliance with all relevant policies, laws, and procedures related to collections.
  7. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: A minimum of one year in the collections field, with a solid understanding of current regulations, or one year of experience within this credit union in a role that necessitates independent decision-making and varied member interactions. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Advancement: To progress to Collections Recovery Specialist II, a minimum of twelve months in the Collections Recovery Specialist I role is required, demonstrating performance that meets or exceeds expectations. For Collections Recovery Specialist III, twelve months in the Collections Recovery Specialist II role is necessary, also with satisfactory performance. Relevant work experience or completion of accelerated training may substitute for tenure.

Compensation:

  • Collections Recovery Specialist I: $48,387 - $73,549 annually
  • Collections Recovery Specialist II: $52,258 - $81,523 annually
  • Collections Recovery Specialist III: $57,484 - $90,825 annually

The starting salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and applicable wage requirements.
