If you possess the skills to oversee fixed asset management, generate journal entries, conduct monthly and year-end closings, manage cash flow, perform bank reconciliations, and reconcile general ledger accounts, you may be the Financial Accountant we are looking for.

This position is ideal for individuals who are meticulous and possess strong analytical skills, particularly those who excel in financial systems.

About Us: AVEC is a member-driven utility that generates and distributes power to residents across 59 locations in rural Alaska, with our headquarters situated in Anchorage, AK. The communities we serve receive electricity through small, isolated grids powered by diesel generation and renewable resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review transactions and batches submitted by Accounting Clerks and Specialists.
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset records.
  • Assist in month-end closing processes and perform detailed account analyses, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Examine invoice packets and payment requests (approximately 600 checks monthly).
  • Evaluate trip expense reports and calculate per diem amounts (approximately 40 trip reports monthly).
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in daily accounting functions.
  • Cross-train to provide support to the Accounting Specialist and Controller.

Qualifications:

Education: BA/BS degree is required.

Specialty/Major: A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with a minimum of 1 year of experience as an Accountant.

License: A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is necessary for insurance purposes.

Work Environment: Our Anchorage office features off-street parking and scenic mountain views. We offer flexible start and end times between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This is a full-time, in-person position.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting salary ranges from $90,302 to $112,877.
