Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Chief Field Operations Officer for Area West, the Vice President of Regional Operations will undertake a dual responsibility as both Regional Vice President and Executive Director for the Northern California Northern Nevada chapter. This pivotal role encompasses leadership in all facets of the mission and the implementation of the strategic plan, which includes oversight of fundraising, revenue generation, and expense management, with a clear mandate for goal setting and achievement for Region 2. This region is comprised of three chapters: Northern California Northern Nevada, Aloha, and Desert Southwest. The individual in this position will function as a senior multi-Executive Director, supporting the strategic objectives of the Association. The role involves spearheading new initiatives, acting as the regional leader, and providing timely responses to complex, multi-chapter inquiries while delivering consolidated reports to the Area West Leader.

As Regional Vice President:

Act as the regional leader within the Association's six core pillars: enhancing revenue to support the mission, improving and expanding programs, advocating for public policy, accelerating research efforts, ensuring effective marketing and communications to raise awareness, and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Drive revenue initiatives such as the Walk to End Alzheimer's, The Longest Day, and other significant Association events to meet regional goals and objectives. Oversee volunteer recruitment to guarantee that adequate resources are available to fulfill the region's goals. Assist chapter executives in engaging with local healthcare leaders to advance dementia care; identify opportunities for co-sponsorship and partnerships, and maximize the benefits of external relationships, including local boards, community organizations, donors, and government agencies. Serve as a primary spokesperson for chapters within the designated region to achieve strategic outcomes. Supervise and mentor chapter executives by monitoring progress, offering solutions, and fostering effective strategic initiatives. Hold accountability for all financial and operational performance within the assigned region. Review and authorize the preparation of financial analyses for budget planning and significant expenditures. Collaborate across multiple chapters to meet both short-term and long-term objectives. Influence a variety of stakeholders, including care providers, policymakers, consumers, and program and chapter leadership. Work with Area Leaders, peer Regional Leaders, and functional management to cultivate and manage external relationships to ensure mutual benefits from partnerships, identify best practices, assess impact, and implement them effectively. Support chapter leaders in planning, developing, and executing all programs, policies, and services related to the Association's educational and program initiatives, diversity efforts, corporate initiatives, mass market fundraising, public relations, marketing, and various communication strategies. Participate in the administration of Association policies, directing and coordinating all regional activities to meet growth objectives. Analyze activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to assess regional progress toward established goals. Consult with the Area West Leader and key functions to set goals and objectives, review achievements, and discuss necessary adjustments in response to current conditions. Provide guidance on significant projects and local initiatives.

As Executive Director:

Drive revenue initiatives such as the Walk to End Alzheimer's, The Longest Day, and other Association events. Lead volunteer recruitment to ensure that adequate resources are available to achieve the chapter's goals. Ensure ongoing excellence in local programming, conducting evaluations and needs assessments to maintain superior service delivery. Build relationships with local, state, and federal government entities, as well as corporate partners and community organizations. Collaborate with neighboring chapters and other non-profit organizations to ensure that public policy initiatives at the city, state, and federal levels benefit our constituents. Develop and mentor a team of leaders to support the chapter's annual initiatives. Actively engage staff and volunteers in development efforts; plan and execute all chapter programs, including educational initiatives, support groups, and third-party events. Oversee advocacy efforts through the recruitment of advocates and ambassadors; serve as the local point of contact for public policy issues and inquiries. Expand local revenue-generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations; leverage external relationships, including community leaders, to create new opportunities. Create and manage the chapter budget, maintain financial records, and oversee daily operational functions. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the chapter.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or advanced degree in business, public health, administration, or a related field is preferred. 15 or more years of experience with increasing responsibility in managing revenue and expense budgets for program and business operations. A minimum of five years of experience as an executive director of a multi-million-dollar chapter within a large multi-chapter voluntary health organization. In-depth knowledge of voluntary health associations. Strong understanding of public policy initiatives. Proven expertise in development, fundraising, and revenue generation, ideally with a track record of high single-digit or double-digit year-over-year revenue growth. Senior management experience in a large non-profit organization; experience in budget development. Experience in building relationships and collaborating across multiple levels - local, regional, and national. Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary, and to travel regionally and nationally as required (estimated travel is 25-35%).

Strong business acumen, including excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with robust influencing and collaboration capabilities. Proficient communication skills, including superior written and verbal communication, business presentations, and public speaking. Demonstrated ability to engage and work with executive team members and senior leaders in the field. Proven ability to build relationships with diverse populations. Strong problem-solving skills with analytical capabilities and the ability to think strategically and creatively. Project management skills with the capacity to creatively utilize available resources and proactively develop new ones. Exceptional multi-tasking abilities, with the capability to transition seamlessly between environments and activities. Broad business perspective to effectively align communication strategies with organizational goals. Knowledge of Alzheimer's and dementia, with demonstrated ability to translate knowledge into service outreach across the network. Proven ability to influence multiple stakeholders, including care providers, policymakers, consumers, and program and organizational leadership through effective written and oral communication, as evidenced by successful initiatives and professional presentations. Demonstrated capability to effectively lead, coach, and develop staff, as well as manage budgets.
