Overview:

The American Heart Association is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President of Development to lead our Metro Atlanta core fundraising campaigns. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving aggressive growth in unrestricted revenue and building a dynamic development team and volunteer leadership talent and capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the Senior Vice President to develop and implement strategic plans for donor relationships, mid to large company prospecting, and sales process.
  • Lead the development team to achieve financial targets and drive new business development and growth.
  • Operationalize the vision, manage staff, and implement strategic priorities, and volunteer and employee engagement plans.
  • Foster a professional work environment that promotes collaboration, trust, teamwork, empowerment, professionalism, and diversity.
  • Work with the Senior Vice President and direct reports to maintain a minimum of three years of transformational Chairs for each core campaign and its events.
  • Partner with Southeast Region and National American Heart Association colleagues and resources to provide management expertise, coaching, and monitoring for fundraising events.
  • Participate in community and corporate functions to generate new business contacts and facilitate networking opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or equivalent type experience.
  • 5 years in building effective teams of staff and volunteers preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of setting, achieving, and exceeding aggressive goals on a sustainable basis.
  • Demonstrated track record of influencing others to action through communicating a shared vision.
  • University/College degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • Ability to establish and execute strategic plans in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate vision to a team.
  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation, and writing clear, concise reports and evaluation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to do daily local travel up to 75% locally; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis.
