Position Overview: Service Manager

The Service Manager plays a crucial role in managing all facets of the Branch Service Department, which encompasses service operations and small contract projects. This position reports directly to the Branch Manager and collaborates closely with the Vice President of the Service & Inspection Division. The Service Manager is tasked with supervising both office and field personnel, including Administrative Assistants, Sales Representatives, and Technicians, ensuring that customer expectations are met with high-quality service and timely responses during equipment installation, repair, and maintenance.

This role demands a proactive approach in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment, emphasizing management, sales, and customer service. Travel to various branch locations, job sites, and client facilities is an essential aspect of this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve corporate goals related to revenue, sales, margins, and operating income.
  • Oversee branch service operations in alignment with an approved financial plan, managing expenses, accounts receivable, workforce, and inventory.
  • Identify and cultivate new and existing customer accounts to enhance business opportunities.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and actively resolve customer issues.
  • Formulate and execute a growth strategy to expand service offerings efficiently.
  • Guarantee timely completion of fieldwork within budget while meeting customer expectations.
  • Assign fair and achievable tasks to team members, fostering a motivated and high-performing workforce.
  • Build and lead a cohesive team to deliver exceptional service and drive business growth.
  • Identify training needs and implement development programs to enhance team capabilities.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate safety protocols, identifying hazards and coordinating corrective actions.
  • Provide quotes for services and follow up on any related inquiries.
  • Expand the service base by promoting commercial service products and solutions to both new and existing clients.
  • Collaborate with branch personnel to ensure seamless customer service from order to delivery.
  • Conduct customer satisfaction surveys as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors.
  • Obtain necessary licenses and certifications to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and promptly, adhering to company processes.
  • Continuously enhance sales skills and product knowledge to maintain a professional image.
  • Interpret architectural and mechanical drawings to determine appropriate equipment placements for projects.
  • Travel to customer locations and job sites as required.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are necessary:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in fire sprinkler operations.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a management capacity.
  • Sales experience is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 13 and 25 standards.
  • Understanding of industry best practices for service, inspections, and design.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
