POSITION SUMMARY
As a Senior Premium Sales Executive at Churchill Downs Racetrack LLC, you will play a pivotal role in cultivating relationships with premium and VIP clientele, ensuring exceptional service while driving sales for our distinguished Premium offerings, particularly during major events such as the Kentucky Derby and Oaks. Your responsibilities will include outreach to potential clients, referrals, and networking opportunities to renew and promote new premium packages to both corporate and individual customers. This role also involves supporting the daily operations of the Premium Business department to guarantee our success in delivering unparalleled customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Achieve or surpass all sales targets set by the Executive Team.
- Market and sell all Premium options available at Churchill Downs through proactive outreach.
- Generate new leads using innovative strategies alongside traditional methods.
- Conduct sales presentations and meetings both virtually and face-to-face.
- Execute successful deal closures and informative sessions.
- Assist with the logistics of the Kentucky Derby and Oaks while providing customer support on race days.
- Deliver world-class service to existing Premium members and facilitate their renewals.
- Collaborate with the Premium Business team to enhance the sales and service culture, ensuring a top-tier experience for our clients.
- Lead initiatives to maintain and grow our CRM efforts.
- Support the administrative functions of the Premium Business team to uphold proper protocols.
- Address customer inquiries and ensure effective resolution of issues.
- Provide timely insights to management regarding service shortcomings or customer feedback.
- Work with various departments to coordinate all ticketing and seating requirements for the Kentucky Derby and Oaks.
- Perform additional duties as required.

- Represent Churchill Downs professionally in all interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each responsibility effectively. The following qualifications are essential:
- Demonstrated experience in premium sales, particularly in managing processes and performance in a sports or entertainment setting, with a deep understanding of serving Premium & VIP clients.
- Proficient in standard software applications.
- Creative, enthusiastic, and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
- Availability to work during race days and special events.
- Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience interacting with high-profile clients, including dignitaries and celebrities.
- People-oriented, capable of multitasking, organized, motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Prior experience in public-facing roles or knowledge of the horse racing industry is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and open to learning new technologies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from an accredited institution or a comparable combination of education and experience is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with diverse clients, colleagues, and the public, particularly under pressure and tight deadlines.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Capability to apply mathematical operations for tasks such as cost analysis, return on investment assessments, and performance metrics evaluation.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw logical conclusions. Proficient in interpreting instructions and technical diagrams.
PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS:
Must exercise discretion when making recommendations regarding options and event details for Churchill Downs events.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Travel Requirements: No travel outside of Louisville is necessary.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
- Work Environment: Primarily an office setting, with attendance required at Churchill Downs race days.
This position involves working in a business office within a sports and entertainment venue. Events may occur outside of regular business hours, including weekends and holidays. The facility may experience noise and varying weather conditions. The ability to navigate the venue efficiently and stand for extended periods is essential.
