Embedded Systems Engineer

Position Overview: As an Embedded Systems Engineer at LanceSoft, Inc., you will be responsible for spearheading firmware integration initiatives within the Solid State Drives (SSD) division. Your primary focus will be to ensure that the firmware subsystem adheres to the highest standards of quality, functionality, and performance throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough failure analysis on NVMe SSD firmware challenges and identify root causes.
- Possess a deep understanding of SSD firmware and testing methodologies.
- Oversee project-specific hardware setup and provide support to team members regarding hardware configurations and qualifications.
- Design and implement automated testing protocols and infrastructure to enhance coverage and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with project teams to coordinate all failure analysis-related activities.
- Ensure timely completion of assignments with a focus on quality, while proactively communicating any challenges or risks.
- Engage in SCRUM meetings to provide updates on the progress of assigned tasks.
Technical Qualifications:
- Expertise in SSD firmware development utilizing assembly, C, and C++ programming languages, along with Python scripting.
- Strong foundation in object-oriented design and architecture for reusability.
- Ability to create and document comprehensive architectural designs and models.
- Familiarity with storage systems, Flash memory, and device drivers is preferred.
- Knowledge of storage interfaces such as ONFI, NVMe, and PCIe.
- Proficient in debugging embedded firmware applications.
- Experience with development toolchains tailored for embedded processors.
- Hands-on experience with test equipment, including oscilloscopes and logic/bus analyzers.
- Capability to analyze intricate SSD firmware and hardware issues.
- High proficiency in problem recreation and troubleshooting.
- Creative problem-solving skills to address complex challenges.
- Strong self-motivation and commitment to excellence.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a globally distributed team.
- Proficient in multitasking within a dynamic work environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Practical experience in firmware development, verification, system failure analysis, and problem resolution.
