Summary:
Oversees and facilitates visitation between custodial and non-custodial parents/caregivers and their children by executing the following responsibilities:

Duties:

  • Organizes and supervises visits between non-custodial parents/caregivers and children.
  • Conducts comprehensive intake assessments.
  • Evaluates physical and emotional parenting abilities, boundary setting, and overall parent-child dynamics.
  • Engages in detailed note-taking using DAP format.
  • Regularly prepares and submits reports to the court, which may involve testifying in legal proceedings.
  • Acts as a mediator and family liaison between custodial and non-custodial caregivers, the judicial system, and other service providers.
  • Performs routine data entry (Excel and agency database) and maintains files.
  • Represents the agency in community or interagency initiatives.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities when available.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.

This role necessitates the ability to maintain neutrality amidst parents who may exhibit high levels of conflict; to focus on participants' strengths while being assertive when necessary.

Experience working with individuals from diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds is preferred.

Education/Experience:

Master's or Bachelor's degree; and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A background in counseling or mental health is preferred.

Computer Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accurate typing/data entry skills are required.

Certificates and Licenses:
No certifications or licenses are necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None Work Environment:
This position requires regular evening hours and the ability to work a flexible schedule.

The Visitation Coordination Specialist may occasionally encounter clients who are angry or under the influence of substances and may be exposed to potentially hostile domestic situations, as cases can involve protection from abuse orders.

There are occasional cases where allegations of abuse or sexual abuse have been made. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit.

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds.
