Job Overview:
The Supervised Visitation Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating and overseeing visitations between custodial and non-custodial parents or caregivers and their children. This position requires a compassionate and neutral approach to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all parties involved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise visitation sessions between non-custodial parents/caregivers and children.
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to evaluate the needs of families.
- Analyze parenting skills, emotional well-being, and parent-child dynamics.
- Maintain detailed documentation using the DAP format for all interactions.
- Prepare and submit reports to the court, which may involve providing testimony.
- Act as a mediator and support between custodial and non-custodial caregivers, the judicial system, and other service providers.
- Perform regular data entry and maintain accurate records in agency databases.
- Represent the agency in community outreach and interagency collaborations.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance skills.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Ability to maintain neutrality in high-conflict situations.
- Experience working with diverse populations and understanding various social and cultural backgrounds.
Education and Experience:
A Master's or Bachelor's degree is required, along with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A background in counseling or mental health is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong data entry skills are essential.
Work Environment:
This role involves regular evening hours and requires flexibility in scheduling. The Specialist may encounter challenging situations, including clients under the influence or in emotionally charged states. The work environment is typically moderate in noise level.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. Occasionally, they may need to stand, walk, or lift up to 25 pounds.
