Recreational Activities Coordinator

The Recreational Activities Coordinator plays a vital role in facilitating engaging activities for participants, specifically designed to accommodate the unique needs and abilities of the elderly and frail individuals.

Collaborates with the Recreation Therapist to create and execute leisure activities that align with the interests and capabilities of participants. Evaluates and continuously monitors participants' functional abilities in relation to their involvement in recreational pursuits, working closely with the Recreation Therapist. Provides support to participants in non-skilled daily living tasks. Facilitates and/or supports both large and small group activities, as well as one-on-one sessions, including exercise, arts and crafts, games, and discussions on current events. Aids in organizing special events and outings in partnership with the Recreation Therapist. Responsible for the setup and cleanup of activities, ensuring supplies are organized and activity spaces are tidy. Participates in meetings focused on participant care as directed by the Recreation Therapist. Assists Day Center personnel with meal service and participant arrivals, as permitted by the ADHC Supervisor. Manages the ordering of supplies for the department and oversees the maintenance of departmental equipment, within the scope of the role. Completes necessary documentation and reporting as required by the Recreation Therapist.

Qualifications Required:

High School diploma or GED. At least one year of experience working with elderly or frail populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in designing and implementing activities for the elderly. Proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish, Russian, Punjabi, or Hmong.
