Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Recreation Coordinator, the Youth Activities Supervisor collaborates with a dedicated team to manage a group of young participants, facilitating engaging and enriching recreational experiences.

Work Environment: Various educational institutions within the district.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead daily activity sessions, ensuring all participants remain actively engaged.
Oversee the organization and maintenance of program supplies and equipment.
Prepare the designated area for activities each day, ensuring all necessary materials are available.
Distribute snacks and assist with any concession-related tasks.
Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation promptly.
Familiarize oneself with and enforce behavior guidelines and safety protocols for all activities.
Participate in all scheduled staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops.
Report any issues or concerns regarding participants or parents to the Recreation Coordinator.
Promote the program at schools and community events; assist in participant recruitment.
Carry out additional duties related to the program as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to engage with children aged 5 years and older;
Fundamental knowledge of children's games and recreational activities;
Strong verbal communication skills;
Capability to lead physical and leisure activities;
Sound judgment and decision-making abilities;
Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must possess the strength, mobility, and stamina to perform tasks such as bending, stretching, standing, kneeling, walking, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 30 pounds. The role typically involves 20% sitting, 30% standing, and 50% walking or being active.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must be at least 17 years old and have prior experience working with children (such as volunteer work or babysitting). A basic understanding of elementary math and language is required. Proficiency in English is essential; Spanish language skills are a plus.

WORK SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:
10-20 hours per week
Availability typically required Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM
(Hours may vary for training and meetings as needed)

EMPLOYMENT TERM:
This is a seasonal role.
Applicants selected for this position must complete a fingerprinting process to verify criminal history; clearance from a TB test is also required.
