Job Summary

UC San Diego's Temporary Employment Services department is seeking a highly skilled Associate Director to lead the Career Development and Industry Engagement team. This role will play a vital part in the Career Center, contributing to the Career Development, Career Education, Operations, and Industry Relations pillars.

The Associate Director will provide a wide range of services and programs to support the career development and educational needs of students and alumni. Key responsibilities include career coaching and advising, program development, industry engagement, and workshops and presentations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Career Coaching and Advising: Offer individual and group career coaching, helping students and alumni with career planning, goal setting, decision-making, and improving career readiness competencies.
  • Program Development: Develop new career advising and coaching services and programs tailored to student and alumni needs.
  • Industry Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with current and potential employers to enhance recruiting efforts and align career opportunities with student interests.
  • Workshops and Presentations: Create and facilitate workshops and presentations on various career development topics as needed.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of career development theories, adult development theory, counseling process, career coaching techniques, career decision making, learning styles, and job search techniques.
  • Knowledge of career services, employer, alumni, and faculty needs and expectations, recruiting and staffing methods, and employment trends.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse cultures.
  • Demonstrated competency and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to establish goals and prioritize workload of self and others.
Working Conditions

This is a hybrid/remote position with remote work available 2 days per week. On-site work will be at UC San Diego's main campus in La Jolla.

The anticipated duration of this position is 12 months, with a compensation range of $34 - $38 per hour, including paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance is also available.
