Job Title: Director of Development

Community Vision Capital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to join our team. As a key member of our Development Team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our national and regional fundraising plans, securing investment into our loan fund, and designing support structures for local donor engagement.

About the Role

The Director of Development will lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive multi-year fundraising and capitalization strategy to advance the mission of Community Vision Capital. You will work closely with our President, Vice President of External Relations, and executive leadership team to set fundraising and loan fund capitalization goals, implement annual fundraising and capitalization strategies, and participate in the overall work of the External Relations / Development team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement annual and multi-year fundraising plans in collaboration with the Vice President of External Relations and the development team.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of qualified prospects in the $25,000 - $1M giving and support range.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of qualified loan fund investments in the $1M - $10M range.
  • Direct research initiatives to identify and cultivate new donors/investors, including individuals, foundations, government, corporations, family offices, and fund managers.
  • Coordinate with the Vice President, President, and Executive Team to cultivate and solicit institutional and corporate support at national, regional, and local levels.
  • Present research results and funding/investment strategies to the Vice President and Executive Team.
  • Ensure development and submission of high-quality grant applications as well as qualitative and quantitative funder/investor reports.
  • Manage fundraising events, including oversight of the sponsorship solicitation, sales, and logistical planning for Annual Event.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in related fields required.
  • 5+ years relevant experience working in fund development, ideally in a nonprofit.
  • 3+ years of experience supervising and managing a team of professionals.
  • Track record of securing multi-year support in excess of $500,000 commitments.
  • Experience/interest in CDFIs, impact investing, and community/economic development.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to represent the organization at public events.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship-building and network development skills.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting events.
  • Comfortable working in a Salesforce environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, contributing ideas and supporting colleagues.
  • Additional training in development and non-profit management preferred.
  • Expert attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the VP, External Relations. The salary for this position is between $152,000 - $169,275 annually, depending on experience.

The position will be based at either of Community Vision Capital's offices in San Francisco or Oakland, with flexibility for hybrid work. While regular weekly travel to local/regional Bay Area events, meetings, and activities is to be expected as part of this role, occasional evening and out-of-area travel may also be necessary.

The position involves regular computer and telephone use plus some minimal lifting.
