Position Overview:

The Connecticut Institute for Communities, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Finance Assistant A/R to join our Finance Department.

This role encompasses the following primary responsibilities and may include additional tasks as necessary:

· Accounts Receivable Processing and Collections (50%)

· Support with Financial Records Management (50%)

This position will adapt to functions based on the latest program allocation and may be revised in response to organizational growth and changes.

Under the supervision of the Deputy Finance Director/Comptroller (or designated representative):

· A. Accounts Receivable Processing and Collections (50%).

· Manage all Early Learning Program (ELP) funds received via cash, check, or credit card, whether through mail or in person.

· Document ELP parent and C4Kids receipts and monitor monthly balances.

· Responsible for conducting and tracking all ELP parent A/R collection communications.

· Compile monthly A/R status reports and present them to the ELP Program Directors and Deputy Finance Director/Comptroller.

· Report C4Kids and SRP parent collections to the Program Director on a monthly basis.

· Generate and distribute monthly invoices for ELP parents.

· Attend ELP locations monthly to collect parent payments and address payment inquiries.

· Keep the Deputy Finance Director/Comptroller informed of any issues affecting the smooth operation of financial processes.

B. Support with Financial Records Management (50%).

· Prepare month-end journal entries, including for BSAC and CIFC Health programs.

· Reconcile bank statements monthly for all bank accounts.

· Serve as a backup for the Senior Financial Analyst, Staff Accountant, and Finance Assistant (A/P) as required.

· Complete various other tasks as assigned by the Deputy Finance Director/Comptroller or CFO in a timely and accurate manner.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field, with two (2) years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field with some experience.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish/Portuguese/English) are highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel and knowledgeable about general office practices, typically acquired through at least one year of full-time equivalent office/administrative experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the internet.
  • Accurate editing and typing skills (minimum 45 words per minute).
  • Able to work professionally both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and the capacity to perform duties safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and tolerate daily sitting and standing while operating office equipment.
  • Capable of managing repetitive hand and wrist motions associated with various office tasks.
  • Able to comprehend assignments, prioritize workload, multitask, problem-solve, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience handling frequent in-person, electronic, and phone communications with staff and the public, often involving confidential information.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Successful completion of a physical examination, background check, and fingerprinting screening is required.

Compensation: $20-23 Hourly Wage
