Desert Regional Medical Center is a comprehensive 385-bed acute-care facility recognized as a stroke receiving center and a level 2 trauma center. Our Rehabilitation Services Department is dedicated to patient-centered, evidence-based care, offering a variety of inpatient and outpatient services including acute rehabilitation, joint replacement, spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, and outpatient therapy.

Position Overview:

The Office Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the front office operations of the Wound Care Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize computer systems for word processing, database management, and basic spreadsheet functions, as well as hospital-specific software.
  2. Ensure smooth daily workflow and timely production of reports and invoices.
  3. Maintain accurate data files, including patient records and correspondence.
  4. Record and manage daily charges, generating necessary reports for hospital management.
  5. Facilitate consistent and accurate documentation for patient records and financial processes.
  6. Possess knowledge of third-party payer systems, including Medicare and Medi-Cal, to assist with patient financial counseling.
  7. Foster excellent communication with other hospital departments to ensure effective information flow.
  8. Verify patient insurance and manage preauthorization requirements to optimize reimbursement.
  9. Oversee record-keeping and collection processes, including co-pay collections.
  10. Administer the Medical Records System in collaboration with clinical staff.
  11. Stay informed about current medical records requirements and maintain patient confidentiality.
  12. Work with clinic staff to ensure completeness of medical records and compliance with privacy regulations.
  13. Collaborate with relevant departments to obtain necessary documentation for coding purposes.
  14. Prepare correspondence for referring physicians based on chart data as directed.
  15. Manage patient scheduling systems in conjunction with medical and clinical staff.
  16. Ensure patients keep scheduled appointments through reminders and assistance.
  17. Maintain a log of inquiries and follow up on unconverted appointments.
  18. Type and file medical and business correspondence accurately.
  19. Manage office supply inventory in accordance with budget guidelines.
  20. Handle all mail and correspondence promptly and appropriately.
  21. Assist management with projects and marketing initiatives as needed.
  22. Address daily operational issues following proper communication channels.
  23. Exhibit strong organizational skills for prioritizing tasks and delegating responsibilities.
  24. Participate actively in program meetings and document minutes.
  25. Engage in mandatory training and professional development opportunities.
  26. Provide recommendations for improvements to office functions.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. High school diploma; some college education preferred.
  2. Previous experience in a medical office or hospital setting.
  3. Proficiency in word processing, database management, and spreadsheet applications.
  4. Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  5. Experience with medical billing is a plus.

Shift: Day

Compensation: $21.65 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
