Avalon Hotel Palm Springs is on the lookout for a dedicated and service-oriented Chief People Officer to lead our People & Culture initiatives across our esteemed properties.

Role Overview: The Chief People Officer will strategize, oversee, and enhance the policies, activities, and personnel within the People & Culture department, ensuring adherence to legal standards and the successful execution of our organizational mission and talent strategy.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new team members within the department.
  • Manages the daily operations of the department.
  • Conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations.
  • Addresses disciplinary actions and terminations in line with company policies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Designs, leads, and implements policies, processes, training, and initiatives to align with People & Culture compliance and strategic objectives.
  • Administers or supervises HR programs, including compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes, performance management, and occupational health and safety.
  • Identifies staffing needs and develops effective hiring and talent management practices.
  • Conducts research and analysis on organizational trends, utilizing reports and metrics from HRIS or talent management systems.
  • Ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations, adjusting policies as necessary.
  • Stays informed on trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in human resources and employment law, communicating relevant updates to management.
  • Develops and manages the departmental budget.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in human resources management is required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
