Position Overview:

Under the strategic guidance of the ESB Major, this role is pivotal in achieving the division's objectives and goals. The incumbent will provide leadership as a senior law enforcement officer, overseeing and directing both administrative and subordinate personnel. This position involves evaluating and analyzing operational challenges, proposing and executing effective solutions, and managing the performance and productivity of the bureau. The role also includes the creation of detailed management reports and presentations.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential duties encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Providing leadership and direction to achieve division goals while managing subordinate staff and evaluating operational issues.
  • Designing and implementing a comprehensive Division Asset Management Program, including planning and coordinating budgetary needs for statewide asset replacement.
  • Assessing the implications of legislative and judicial changes on division operations, ensuring policies align with accredited law enforcement standards.
  • Fostering partnerships with various stakeholders and leading initiatives that further the division's mission.
  • Overseeing the deployment of Arizona Management System principles within the bureau.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A deep understanding of police service management principles, including strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of law enforcement administration, criminal codes, and legal procedures.
  • Strong skills in employee supervision, conflict resolution, and effective communication with diverse audiences.
  • The ability to prioritize multiple tasks and maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with a minimum of two years of command-level experience in law enforcement and relevant certifications will be favored.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License is mandatory. Candidates must also meet certification requirements within specified timeframes.
