Position Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Police Records Specialist I. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy and security of police records.
Reporting Structure:
The Police Records Specialist I will report directly to the Police Records Shift Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact for law enforcement, governmental agencies, and the public regarding police records requests.
- Process requests for police reports, ensuring all documents are valid, accurate, and complete.
- Scan and index records into electronic systems, assisting with filing, retention, and destruction of records.
- Review police officer reports for accuracy and consult with relevant personnel on discrepancies.
- Redact sensitive information from records in compliance with legal standards.
- Handle payment processing for records provided.
- Conduct data entry for citations and perform validations for missing persons and stolen property.
- Enter and clear warrants and related information in various databases.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of two years in a fast-paced customer service or clerical role.
- Experience with law enforcement records is preferred.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to pass a thorough background check.
Certifications:
- Must obtain Level A Terminal Operator Certification within six months of hire.
Work Environment:
This position is classified as At-Will and is eligible for overtime compensation. The Town of Gilbert is committed to being a forward-thinking community.
