Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Receiving Operations Supervisor serves as the key authority on all receiving functions. This role involves assessing the capacity requirements for each shift and advising the supervisor on optimal work assignments. The supervisor will also adjust staffing levels as necessary to fulfill capacity demands. Responsibilities include preparing outgoing transfers by ensuring items are packed in appropriately sized cartons and managing the necessary transfer documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate daily capacity needs to meet operational targets and allocate work assignments accordingly; the Supervisor is expected to be integrated into the available receiving capacity.
  • Act as the primary expert on the complete receiving, storage, return, and transfer processes.
  • Manage departmental email communications and ensure that tracking spreadsheets are updated promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and established work instructions, and inform the supervisor of any compliance issues among team members.
  • Assist in training new employees and facilitate cross-training schedules.
  • Identify areas for improvement and motivate the team to participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives, acting as the facilitator for these activities.
  • Promote open communication and employee engagement to foster a positive work environment.
  • Ensure that all necessary equipment is available and operational for employees, escalating any repair needs.
  • Monitor and report all receiving-related issues and employee concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Seek appropriate support resources as needed to achieve daily objectives.
  • Develop and maintain precise work instructions.

Additional Contributions:

  • Maintain effective communication with other department supervisors.
  • Ensure the work area is organized and tidy.
  • Support Training Coordinators as the area subject matter expert.
  • Lead daily handover meetings with other shifts.
  • Address problems and escalate obstacles when necessary.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels of receiving and shipping supplies.
  • Track and ensure employee training compliance for required certifications.
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making and problem-solving techniques to enhance area performance.
  • Set a standard for the team by adhering to company behavior expectations and following process and quality guidelines.
  • Lead and ensure adherence to ESD and 6S practices throughout assigned work areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a warehouse setting preferred.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday during standard business hours.
  • Strong understanding of receiving operations.
  • Familiarity with warehouse and logistics functions is advantageous.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and make sound decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with all team members.
  • Proficient communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to apply conflict resolution techniques within the team and across the organization.
  • Capable of multitasking and adapting in a dynamic work environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Flexibility in work schedules to meet departmental objectives.
  • Proficient with computers and Windows-based applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Regular attendance is essential for this role.

Work Environment:

  • This position is based in a warehouse and manufacturing setting.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
