Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Operations Supervisor serves as the key expert for the comprehensive processes of one or more production lines within a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This role involves assessing capacity requirements for the shift and advising the supervisor on work assignments, while also making necessary staffing adjustments throughout the shift. The Supervisor plays a vital role in Continuous Improvement initiatives in the area and is responsible for monitoring and evaluating team performance, providing consistent feedback to their supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess daily capacity requirements to achieve output targets and assign work accordingly; inclusion in available production capacity is expected.
  • Serve as the primary expert for the complete production process in the designated area.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and established work instructions, while alerting the supervisor to any adherence issues among team members.
  • Lead tiered Daily Management System (DMS) meetings.
  • Identify areas for improvement and motivate the team to participate in Continuous Improvement activities, acting as the facilitator for these initiatives.
  • Promote open communication and employee engagement to enhance team morale.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment is available and operational for employees, preparing for the next shift each day.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate all production-related issues and employee concerns to the supervisor promptly.
  • Seek appropriate support resources as needed to maintain production flow.

Additional Support:

  • Assist Training Coordinators as the area expert.
  • Address problems and escalate obstacles when necessary.
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making and problem-solving techniques to enhance area performance.
  • Model adherence to Biamp Behavior Expectations and compliance with process and quality guidelines.
  • Lead and maintain 6S discipline throughout assigned work areas.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Internal candidates must hold at least a Production Operator II position.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in electrical and mechanical manufacturing.
  • Availability to work Monday through Thursday from 5:00 am to 3:30 pm.
  • General knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
  • Proficiency with computers and Windows-based applications.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to apply conflict resolution techniques within the team and across the organization.
  • Capability to multitask and adapt in a dynamic work environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility in work schedules to meet area objectives.
  • Consistent attendance is essential for this role.

Work Environment:

  • This position requires on-site presence.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Capability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Perform tasks that may involve repetitive motions, including reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, stooping, and bending.
  • Work in an environment with OSHA permissible machine noise levels.
  • Utilize tools that require fine motor skills.
  • Visually observe and differentiate small moving components.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required in designated areas.
