Role Overview: Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing personnel and operations essential for the safe and efficient production of a diverse array of products, ensuring compliance with company standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements.

  • Organize daily resource allocation (equipment, personnel, materials, and systems) to meet performance targets established with Production Management.
  • Record daily production activities, assess results against set objectives, and communicate discrepancies during operational meetings.
  • Evaluate daily maintenance effectiveness and collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to identify improvement opportunities. Ensure timely completion of maintenance and repairs to enhance efficiency.
  • Manage all supervisory functions, including scheduling, performance evaluations, hiring, disciplinary actions, coaching, training, and termination recommendations.
  • Utilize focused improvement tools to effectively address root causes of issues and support ongoing enhancement initiatives.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions between shifts and ensure effective communication of critical information to team members and Production Management.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by implementing safe work practices and ensuring employee training on compliance with safety procedures. Apply corrective actions consistently when necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to quality and food safety standards through regular compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), sanitation audits, food safety checks (HACCP), and product quality assessments as per organizational policies. Actively engage in the prevention and resolution of quality-related issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying potential enhancements and proposing changes within your area of responsibility.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with good manufacturing practices, hazard analysis and critical control points, lean manufacturing, and other food safety and quality principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor team members, identifying both short- and long-term development needs.
  • Proficient in managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment using effective organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word for document creation, Excel for data management, and Outlook for communication.
  • A four-year degree in business management, production operations management, agricultural science, food science, or equivalent experience.
  • Work typically occurs in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, requiring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular tasks involve sitting, standing, bending, walking, and using hands or fingers for various controls and tools.
