Role Overview:

The Production Supervisor is accountable for overseeing personnel and processes essential for the safe and efficient manufacturing of a diverse array of products, ensuring compliance with corporate, client, and regulatory standards.

  • Organize daily resource allocation (including equipment, personnel, materials, and systems) to meet performance objectives set by Production Management in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Record daily production activities, assess outcomes against established benchmarks, and communicate discrepancies during operational and review meetings.
  • Evaluate daily maintenance effectiveness and collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to identify improvement opportunities. Prioritize and ensure timely completion of equipment maintenance and repairs to enhance efficiency.
  • Oversee all supervisory functions, including scheduling, performance management, recruitment, disciplinary actions, coaching, training, and recommendations for termination.
  • Utilize focused improvement methodologies in problem-solving scenarios to address root causes of issues and support ongoing enhancement initiatives.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions between shifts and ensure effective communication of critical information to peers, team members, and Production Management.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by implementing safe work instructions, practices, and procedures for all roles, ensuring employee training and compliance. Apply corrective actions consistently when necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to all quality and food safety protocols through regular compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), sanitation audits, food safety checks (HACCP), and product quality assessments as per organizational policies. Actively engage in the prevention and rectification of quality-related issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying potential enhancements and recommending changes within the area of responsibility.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient understanding of good manufacturing practices, hazard analysis and critical control points, lean manufacturing, and other principles related to food safety, quality, and production.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to engage with team members at all levels, providing mentorship and coaching, while identifying developmental needs and offering appropriate support.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word for document creation, Excel for data management, and Outlook for communication.
  • A four-year degree in business management, production operations management, agricultural science, food science, or equivalent experience demonstrating communication and analytical skills.
  • Work typically occurs in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures and requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Physical demands include sitting, standing, bending, walking, using hands or fingers, talking, hearing, and may require lifting up to 50 pounds. Vision capabilities include close vision for computer work.
