Position: Finance Operations Supervisor
Reports to: Senior Director of Finance and Administration
Employment Type: Full Time
Position Summary: The Finance Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a range of advanced financial tasks, including analysis, account reconciliations, and the management of grant-related financial operations. This role involves supervising a dedicated finance team that handles invoicing for government grants, ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Grant Oversight:
- Conducts post-award financial management for grants, including monitoring expenses and revenues, reconciling accounts, and preparing reimbursement requests.
- Maintains grant accounting integrity by reviewing monthly program reports and collaborating with Program Directors on grant progress.
- Assists in the development of grant budgets as necessary.
- Generates and maintains grant-related reports using financial software.
- Reviews weekly payable transactions to ensure proper grant coding.
- Prepares the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) in accordance with regulatory standards and liaises with auditors.
General Ledger Management:
- Reconciles general ledger accounts through thorough research and collaboration.
- Manages monthly payroll processes and related entries.
- Records monthly accruals, prepaids, and depreciation entries.
- Handles cash receipts and reconciles various accounts as assigned.
- Supports the annual audit and tax preparation activities.
Team Collaboration:
- Fosters positive relationships with internal staff, funding agencies, and partner organizations.
- Provides project support to the Senior Director of Finance and Administration and assists in other accounting functions as needed.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience, preferably in nonprofit financial management.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), particularly in nonprofit revenue recognition.
- Familiarity with financial software such as Intacct and Concur is advantageous.
- Experience in managing federal, state, and local grant financial reporting is highly desirable.
- Proficient in spreadsheet applications (Gsheet and Excel) and Gsuite.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a unionized environment, is preferred.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and effective communication skills across diverse groups.
- Fluency in English is required; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
Compensation: This exempt full-time position offers a competitive salary based on experience.
