Role Overview: Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor is accountable for overseeing personnel and operations essential for the safe and efficient manufacturing of a diverse array of products, ensuring compliance with company, client, and regulatory standards.

  • Organize daily resource allocation (equipment, personnel, materials, and systems) to effectively meet performance objectives established with Production Management.
  • Record daily production activities, evaluate outcomes against set targets, and communicate discrepancies during operational meetings.
  • Assess daily maintenance efficiency and collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to identify improvement opportunities. Prioritize and ensure timely completion of equipment maintenance and repairs to enhance productivity.
  • Manage all supervisory functions, including scheduling, performance evaluations, hiring, disciplinary actions, coaching, training, and termination recommendations.
  • Utilize focused improvement methodologies in problem-solving scenarios to address root causes of issues and support ongoing enhancement initiatives.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions between shifts and ensure effective communication of critical information to peers, team members, and Production Management.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by implementing safe work instructions, practices, and procedures for all roles, ensuring employee training and compliance. Apply corrective actions consistently when necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to quality and food safety protocols through regular compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), sanitation audits, food safety checks (HACCP), and product quality assessments as per organizational policies. Actively engage in the prevention and rectification of quality-related issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying potential enhancements and recommending changes within your area of responsibility.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient understanding of good manufacturing practices, hazard analysis and critical control points, lean manufacturing, and other principles related to food safety, quality, and production.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor team members, identifying both immediate and long-term development needs and providing necessary support.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word for document creation, Excel for data management, and Outlook for communication.
  • A four-year degree in business management, production operations management, agricultural science, food science, or equivalent experience demonstrating communication and analytical skills.
  • Work is typically conducted in a manufacturing environment with exposure to varying temperatures, requiring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Regular tasks may involve sitting, standing, bending, walking, using hands or fingers, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Close vision for computer screen work is necessary.
