The Nebraska Department of Agriculture is on the lookout for a dedicated Administrative Technician to support the Agriculture Promotion and Development Department. This role is ideal for individuals who are self-driven and excel in interpersonal interactions.

The Administrative Technician will primarily focus on delivering exceptional customer service and providing administrative assistance to Program Managers and Specialists within the department.

Key responsibilities include managing the NextGen and Negotiations programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide outstanding customer service through various communication channels, including phone, email, and in-person interactions. Demonstrate empathy while assisting farmers and ranchers who may be facing challenges. Offer technical and administrative support to the Nebraska Beginning Farmer Board of Directors. Organize schedules, prepare agendas, and document meeting minutes. Review applications for the Beginning Farmer Program to ensure completeness and accuracy. Maintain effective communication throughout the application and approval processes. Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and draft responses to inquiries. Compile records and generate reports, including USDA documentation. Assist with administrative tasks for the APD Department and provide support to the Director and Deputy Director as required. Perform additional duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements: Coursework or experience in research, presentation, publication, business administration, accounting, customer service, or technical support, including proficiency in software applications such as word processing and spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications: An associate's degree and one year of experience in administrative support within a government agency or related field. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. A passion for supporting agriculture in Nebraska and assisting farmers and ranchers is highly valued. Strong communication and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments effectively.

Additional Information: Regular and reliable attendance is essential for this position. A valid driver's license or reliable transportation is required.

Proficiency in document preparation, administrative processes, customer service principles, and business operations.


Skills:

Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software, attention to detail, active listening, and effective time management.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage caseloads, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
