Position Overview:
As an Outdoor Education Program Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing outdoor education initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and coordinating outdoor education programs, setting objectives, organizing events, and assessing their effectiveness.
- Collaborating with educational staff across various divisions to ensure cohesive goals and strategies.
- Overseeing the hunter education initiative, managing personnel, volunteers, and associated funding.
- Implementing outreach programs to promote outdoor skills and hunter education.
- Supporting the agency's Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation (R3) objectives.
- Engaging in outreach activities to highlight Nebraska's outdoor opportunities through various media channels.
- Coordinating with team members to uphold and execute Nebraska's shooting range strategy.
- Supervising the staff at the Turpin Outdoor Education Center and collaborating with outdoor education personnel.
- Managing federal grants and preparing necessary reports while overseeing budgets for assigned responsibilities.
- Planning mentored hunting experiences in partnership with various stakeholders.
- Representing the Commission on relevant committees focused on hunting, shooting sports, R3, and outdoor education.
Minimum: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with five years of related experience, or a Master's degree with three years of experience. Professional experience may substitute for educational qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred: A Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources Management, Education, Business, Communications, or a related discipline, along with two or more years of relevant experience in outdoor recreation, conservation, or education. Ability to lift 50 lbs and a valid driver's license are required.

- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Understanding of outdoor recreation and accessibility.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and shooting range design.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to foster relationships with colleagues, partners, and volunteers.
- Knowledge of Nebraska's wildlife, parks, and outdoor recreational opportunities.
- Willingness to travel as necessary.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Strong organizational skills to manage projects and meet deadlines.
