Senior Scientific Consultant for Government Programs

Hybrid Position

Overview

Aveshka is seeking a Senior Scientific Consultant for Government Programs. This role is essential in supporting the government's mission to conduct research and development (R&D) and advanced research and development (AR&D) efforts aimed at providing medical countermeasures to address public health challenges arising from chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) events, as well as pandemic influenza and emerging infectious diseases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert scientific consultation regarding medical countermeasures utilized in federal public health emergency responses.
  • Prepare and refine documentation, including reports, draft regulations, scholarly articles, reference materials, and communication points.
  • Draft articles for potential submission to technical journals and other media that highlight significant achievements within various government program areas.
  • Provide scientific and technical guidance on developing strategies for outreach and engagement with senior leadership.
  • Offer technical and scientific advice on the formulation of strategies related to medical operations and regional collaborations.
  • Create, edit, and review materials for leadership briefings, executive engagements, and high-level presentations.
  • Act as a technical consultant resource to facilitate navigation of federal-private partnerships during health response initiatives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on medical operations standards, surge protocols, and other critical guidance developed by government program areas, while engaging in dissemination strategies.
  • Support additional technical and scientific activities pertinent to preparedness and response as directed.
  • Travel with leadership and program staff to provide scientific and technical consultation as required.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • A minimum of 15 years of industry experience is required (Bachelor's degree preferred), or a Master's degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience in supporting federal government initiatives, including fields such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Contracting, or Political Science.

Required Experience

  • Tier 2/Public Trust clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

Preferred Experience

  • At least three years of relevant experience in healthcare settings, such as laboratory clinician, research clinician, or pharmacist.
  • Experience in conducting and publishing clinical research is desirable.
  • Proficiency in healthcare-related data analysis, management, and problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize research directions, analyze trends, and justify new research and development investments.
  • Experience in managing and designing methods for collecting health-related information.
  • Proven experience providing scientific advice to senior government officials.

Preferred Skills and Tools

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with remote meeting platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and WebEx.

Additional Skills

  • Ability to analyze, summarize, and communicate complex scientific and technological information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Expertise in conducting literature reviews and market research.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with effective organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
