Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Family Support Case Coordinator is responsible for investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect, as well as managing a caseload of families who have been identified as needing protective services. This role also includes overseeing foster care and adoption assessments and placements, preparing child-related cases for court, and participating in legal proceedings.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, social science, early childhood development, education, or a related field is required, or a commitment to complete a Bachelor's degree within five years of employment.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, and eligibility criteria. Proficiency in agency computer systems, office management, social sciences, counseling, and case planning is essential. Skills in typing, word processing, interviewing, and various reasoning abilities (numerical, verbal, clerical, interpersonal, and physical) are also necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Family Support Case Coordinator will investigate claims of child abuse and neglect, manage a caseload of families requiring protective services, and participate in legal actions, including court testimony as needed. Adherence to procedural deadlines set by the relevant authorities is crucial, as is ensuring complete documentation.

Additionally, the Coordinator will serve on internal and external committees, attend agency meetings, and develop public education initiatives related to case assignments.

This position requires availability for on-call duties as necessary. The Family Support Case Coordinator is tasked with ensuring the safety and well-being of children, being vigilant against potential harm, and recognizing that these children may be unable to protect themselves from various forms of abuse. Regular exposure to environmental factors (such as temperature extremes, noise, and other conditions) may occur during interviews and meetings outside the office. The Coordinator may also encounter clients who are upset or hostile.

WORK SCHEDULE: Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with variations based on agency needs.

COMPENSATION: This position is classified as Non-Exempt from Overtime, with a pay rate of $21.56 per hour.
