Child Welfare Case Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: The Family Services Caseworker is responsible for investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect, as well as managing a caseload of families identified as needing protective services. This role may also involve overseeing foster care and adoption evaluations and placements. Additionally, the Caseworker prepares child-related cases for court proceedings and engages in legal actions as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, social science, early childhood development, education, or a related field is required, or a commitment to complete a Bachelor's degree within five years of employment.
The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of Federal, State, and Local laws, rules, and regulations related to eligibility, agency computer systems, office management, social sciences, counseling, and case planning. Proficiency in typing, word processing, interviewing, and various reasoning abilities (numerical, verbal, clerical, interpersonal, and physical) is essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Family Services Caseworker investigates reports of child abuse and neglect and maintains a caseload of families previously determined to require protective services. Responsibilities include participating in legal proceedings, including testifying in court when necessary, and adhering to procedural deadlines set by the State of Ohio for managing social services cases, ensuring all documentation is thorough and accurate.
The Caseworker will also represent the agency on internal and external committees, attend various meetings, and develop and implement public education initiatives related to case assignments.
Availability for on-call duties is required as needed.
The Family Services Caseworker plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children in vulnerable situations. This position requires vigilance to prevent harm to children who cannot protect themselves from physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. Regular exposure to environmental factors (such as extreme temperatures, noise, and other conditions) may occur during interviews and meetings outside the office. The Caseworker may also encounter challenging interactions with clients.
WORK HOURS: Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM (Hours may vary based on agency needs outside of standard working hours).
COMPENSATION: $21.56/hour
