About the Role:

This position is tasked with a variety of servicing and support functions associated with loans designated to Special Assets. Key responsibilities encompass loan accounting, reporting, reconciliation, payment processing, and account management in alignment with Bank policies and procedures, while delivering exceptional customer service and support to all loan officers.

  • Reconcile client accounts and analyze customer histories to assess payment and service-related issues.
  • Conduct administrative and office support tasks, including generating daily and monthly reports for the department and managing electronic filing of loan approvals.
  • Collect data and compile regular or periodic reports related to departmental functions for distribution to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure operational practices adhere to standard operating procedures, Bank policies, and compliance regulations.
  • Process loan charge-offs and recovery transactions, updating the lending platform with relevant coding.
  • Execute daily and monthly reconciliations of charge-offs and recoveries.
  • Receive and distribute bankruptcy notifications for loans assigned to Special Assets, updating the lending core as necessary based on the type of notice received.
  • Manage projects, conduct analyses, and undertake additional responsibilities as directed.
  • Track and reconcile nonperforming loan general ledger expenses.
  • Review Credit Memos for authorized approval authority, distributing and coding loans as appropriate.
  • Prepare monthly general ledger and DDA certifications.
  • Address a diverse range of requests received within a shared Outlook account.
  • Book OREO (Other Real Estate Owned) accounts, post write-downs, and record gain/loss on sale transactions. Maintain, balance, and disseminate the OREO reconciliation report.
  • Maintain dashboard reporting of loans assigned to Special Assets for distribution to leadership.
  • Work on assignments that are semi-routine and moderately complex, requiring judgment in problem resolution and routine recommendations. Typically receives minimal instruction on routine tasks and general guidance on new assignments.
  • Demonstrate compliance with all banking regulations pertinent to assigned job functions and apply this knowledge to designated responsibilities, which may be acquired through coursework and on-the-job training. Stay informed on regulatory changes.
  • Adhere to all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and complete all required annual or job-specific training.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Bank's written policies and procedures regarding the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other relevant regulations applicable to this job description.
  • May be requested to coach, mentor, or train others and deliver coursework as a subject matter expert.
  • Actively learn, demonstrate, and promote the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and communications.

About You:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 2-4 years of back-office accounting and/or banking experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills with the capacity to review data and prepare reports, recognizing problems and determining the best approach and recommendations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong reading, writing, and mathematical abilities.
  • Capability to read and interpret loan documents.
  • Proficient keyboard skills.
  • Ability to analyze problems, determine optimal approaches, compile and analyze data, and prepare reports/recommendations, along with knowledge of departmental procedures, practices, and policies.
  • Competence in using office software (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, spreadsheets, etc.) and equipment. Completion of high school, vocational training, or equivalent is required.

Work Style:

Umpqua Bank offers a Flexible Workplace Program, and this opportunity is categorized under the Full Office work style, which entails working in the office from a designated company location five days a week.

The pay range for this role is $18.00-$27.00, with the pay rate for the selected candidate determined by various non-discriminatory factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education, and geographic location. The role may qualify for performance-based incentive compensation, with details provided during the recruitment process.
